Safeguarding & Complaints

Raising and managing safeguarding concerns
Report immediately to Manager/on-call; make the person safe; record facts; escalate to HSE/Gardaí as required; follow confidentiality and data protection rules; capture learning.
Complaints handling pathway
Acknowledge, investigate, respond with reasons and learning. Provide escalation routes and keep the person informed of timelines.

Medication & Clinical Risk

Medication prompts/assistance
Work to the person’s plan and risk assessment; document prompts, refusals or errors; escalate per policy; review regularly with circle of care.
Infection prevention & PPE
Hand hygiene; appropriate PPE; waste disposal; report symptoms/exposures; follow outbreak guidance.

Operations & Out-of-Hours

Out-of-Hours & emergency cover
Use Emergency On-Call (087) 1498130 for urgent issues only. Life-threatening emergencies: dial 999 first, then inform us.
Lone worker safety
Check-in protocols; dynamic risk assessment; escalation routes; incident reporting.

Quality & Audit

Supervision and spot-checks
Scheduled supervisions, unannounced spot-checks, observational audits and reflective learning.
Incident/near-miss learning cycle
Record → review → actions → share learning → monitor effectiveness.

Staff acknowledgement

Staff are required to read applicable policies and submit an acknowledgement. Managers retain records for audit.
